Secondary education computerisation project awarded to Precision Tech

The Ministry of Education has
awarded a tender to Precision Tech Services (PTS) to supply, install and
commission 2,270 Hewlett Packard personal computers and other related
peripherals at 141 schools in the Western, Southern, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa
provinces under the Secondary Education Modernisation Project (SEMP)
Packages 5/6. This project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and
amounts to over USD 2.5 Mn. The project was awarded to PTS considering the
vast experience they have gained with similar projects completed in record
time, a media release said.
The agreement was signed recently between the Acting Secretary of the
Ministry of Education and the Management of Precision Tech Services. This
project is expected to be completed by December, 2003, the release said.
Precision Tech Services (PTS) was incorporated in 1992 as the sole
distributor and service provider for Hewlett Packard computing products. PTS
later on established Business Solution Systems, a Premium Business Partner
of HP, in 1996 to channel its system integration business through this new
company and for PTS to concentrate on government projects and healthcare
solutions. PTS and BSS are member companies of the Seven Seas Group. The
core competencies of PTS/BSS are the provision of meaningful and cost
effective solutions to government and corporate organisations in the areas
of connectivity, interfacing applications and professional services, the
release said.
